Steak is best when it’s cooked at high temperatures and very quickly. A problem with indoor cooking, however, is that it’s not always easy to cook a steak quickly.

When I cook steak in the oven, I use a method that works well for me. It involves a cast iron skillet and cooking the steak on one side only. You can choose to cook your steak using both sides if you prefer but I think this method of cooking on one side is better because it allows you to get more control over the heat.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup vegetable oil

3 tablespoons lime juice

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 1/2 teaspoons chili powder

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper**

Steps:

– Preheat the oven to 500 degrees F (260 degrees C).

– Heat a cast iron skillet over high heat until smoking hot, about 5 minutes.

– Rub both sides of the steaks with vegetable oil and season with salt and pepper. Place the steaks in the hot skillet. Cook until browned and crisp on one side, about 4 minutes. Turn and brown on the other side, about 3 minutes

This recipe is one of my favorites! It’s fast, easy and tastes delicious.

Ingredients:

1 lb skirt steak, cut into 4 pieces

2 tbsp olive oil

1 tbsp chili powder

1 tsp ground cumin

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp onion powder

1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes

1/4 tsp dried oregano

Salt and pepper to taste

1/2 teaspoon chili powder

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon onion powder

1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

1/2 teaspoon paprika

1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin

1 teaspoon sea salt

1 teaspoon black pepper

The Magic of Chicken Fajitas:

1. Slice onions and peppers, toss with a little salt and pepper, and set aside.

2. Take chicken out of the fridge to get up to room temperature before cooking.

3. Mix all seasonings together in a small bowl.

4. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

5. Add chicken strips and season with spice mix, stirring often until cooked through, about 4-5 minutes. Remove from pan and set aside on a plate or cutting board, covered with foil to keep warm.

6. Add peppers and onions and season with additional salt and pepper, if desired, sautéing for 2-3 minutes until tender-crisp; you can also add a little more oil if needed, but since the chicken will have released some juices into the pan, you may not need it! Add chicken back into skillet along with any accumulated juices from resting on your plate or cutting board; sauté all together for another 1-2 minutes until everything is warmed through

4 tablespoons paprika

1/4 cup ground cumin

2 tablespoons garlic powder

2 tablespoons onion powder

4 teaspoons salt

4 teaspoons black pepper

4 teaspoons oregano

6 tablespoons chili powder

Ok, so my husband and I have been using this recipe for years now and I just got around to posting it. It is so awesome and easy, I thought I would share. This is one of his favorites so we make it quite often.

As many of you know, I like to make my own seasonings as much as possible. This recipe is a staple around our house. It’s great on chicken, beef and pork. We use it on chicken fajitas all the time!

You can easily multiply this recipe to make more and store it in a glass jar in your pantry!

I hope you enjoy!!
