Spaghetti sauce is a staple food in the Italian cuisine. It is made of tomatoes, onions, garlic, red or green bell peppers, celery, olives and olive oil. Spaghetti sauce has a rich taste and is often used as a topping for pasta. Homemade spaghetti sauce is more nutritious compared to the commercial ones.
The sweet paprika is used to add a special flavor to the sauce. It gives a mild peppery taste with lots of aroma and adds color to the sauce. The dried sweet pepper can be stored for years without loss of quality. Sweet paprika is popularly used in most Hungarian dishes.

** Sweet paprika is a sweet-tasting powder made from grinding dried peppers. It is commonly used in Hungarian and other eastern European cooking. You can find it at your local grocery store in the spice aisle. It is also called Pimenton de la Vera (Spanish), Mirapricot or Kalustyan’s Sweet-Hot Paprika (Indian). If you cannot find it in your local grocery store, you can order it online. I recommend the Frontier brand; it has a rich flavor that goes well with this dish.**

And she doesn’t measure ingredients by weight either. “I’ll put in a big handful of this, half a cup of that,” she says. Sweet paprika is a sweet and spicy powder made from grinding dried, ground sweet red peppers. Paprika is a great spice to have on hand for adding color, sweetness, and flavor to all kinds of dishes. Although paprika can be used in many dishes not normally associated with the spice (such as scrambled eggs), it’s most often used in Hungarian cuisine.
