The game of carrom is very easy to understand, yet it challenges even top players. It can be learnt by anyone quickly and easily. The game consists of two players, who take turns to shoot their pieces into the pockets (holes) at the end of the table.
1. Place the player’s men in any pocket between the two back corners according to his choice2. Start with a cue ball shot from anywhere on the side or from behind the line (marked line).3. The opponent will then hit his own ball from where he pleases to make his counter move4. If a player commits a foul or pockets any of his opponent’s balls, he loses that turn5. The player continues playing until all his pieces are pocketed6.
To make a carrom board, you’ll need:
5.5′ x 3.5′ piece of 3/4″ plywood
2″ x 1″ x 5′ piece of hardwood (I used oak)
1″ pocket hole screws
3/4″ or 1″ dowel rods to act as pegs for your string. You can also buy pre-made ones for a few bucks, or just use what you have laying around.
1. Cut the 3/4″ plywood into two pieces; one at 26″ long, and one at 18″ long. You could also use two 13″ pieces, or whatever size you want, as long as it’s under 30 inches in length for regulation play.
2. Cut your hardwood into long rectangles that fit into each of the grooves on the plywood from step 1. I didn’t measure mine, but I’d guess they were around 6 inches long and 2 inches wide. For the longer sides of the board (the 26″ pieces) cut 4 rectangles total; two for each side of the board. For the shorter side (18″) only cut 2; this will be explained later on.
3. Label each of your rect

The carrom board is a game popular in India. It is played by two players who use discs to hit a ball that has been placed in the center of the board. The object of the game is to get your disc past your opponent’s disc and into the hole.
Carrom boards are usually used for playing carrom, but you can play many different games with one. The board measures around 24 inches (60 cm) long and 9 inches (22 cm) wide, and has a pocket on each of its long sides, for the discs to fall into when there are no players left to hit them. A thicker, longer bar is attached perpendicular to this pocket at each end of the board (4 in total). These bars have a groove cut into them for holding the discs during play; when not in use, these grooves are empty space, with each groove being 1 inch (3 cm) deep and 2 inches (5 cm) wide. There are also two shorter bars attached to the board: One on either side of the central hole, parallel to the central bar of the board. These bars are used by players to balance themselves
