I am rounding up some ideas for decorating the apartment this winter. I have been thinking about changing some of the wall art and adding something that really shows our winter mood. One thing that I am thinking is incorporating rich colors like purple, burgundy and forest green into a theme that will represent the cold, snowy weather outside. We have so many things in our home right now that are grey and black, so I want to create a fun balance with some deep hues while staying warm inside.

Based on my mood board, I would like to incorporate a few other accessories like throw blankets and candles. I love the idea of having a few candles out at all times to add a cozy glow to the space.

To create a little bit more balance in the room, I would like to incorporate some dark wood furniture pieces to contrast with my white bedding and light grey walls. This could be just about anything from bookshelves or cabinets to armoires or TV stands.

I have also been thinking about how to incorporate our new family heirloom into the winter design. My husband’s grandmother gave us her dining table last week and it is beautiful! My only concern with incorporating it into our space is that it is already very dark wood – we need more
