Warranties are a kind of contract between the manufacturer or seller and the consumer. A warranty can be either implied or express (written). The purpose of the warranty is to protect consumers from defects in the manufacturing or parts of a product.

If a fault occurs in the product, then this agreement ensures that the seller has to replace or repair the product for free. This is applicable in case of defects which existed at the time of sale. As a matter of fact, under certain circumstances, it can even extend to post-sale services, such as repair or replacement of parts that were damaged due to normal wear and tear.

Till date, all kinds of electrical appliances are covered under warranty with almost every manufacturer. The duration generally ranges from six months to two years depending upon the brand and model. Even medical devices such as pacemakers can be covered under warranty. What’s more, even if you have purchased an item second hand, you are still eligible for the same warranty period as long as the item is not a second hand one and is sold by a registered dealer only.
