It is also known as Saunf in Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi, Variyali (વરીયાળી) in Gujarati, Perunjeerakam (പെരുഞ്ചീര) in Malayalam, Shombu ( শম্বু ) in Bengali and Badishep (बडीशेप) in Marathi.
