Shrimp Biryani is a popular Indian dish and one of the many variations of Biryani. The spices we use in this recipe are coriander, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, bay leaves, cumin seeds and turmeric powder.
We start off with a cup of Basmati rice that has been soaked for at least 20 minutes. Then add oil to a heated pan and add in the spices until they become fragrant.
Shrimp Biryani is one of the most delicious and popular Indian dishes. The name itself is enough to make you salivate. The aroma of spices and the taste of well-cooked shrimp does it for me. Making this dish at home is considered as a culinary achievement and quite a task, but with our spices, making it has never been easier.
The first step in creating this dish is marinating the shrimp. You can use any size shrimp that you want, but I recommend that you remove the shell and cut off the tail. I also recommend that you leave the skin on, because it will give your biryani a nice texture when it cooks.
The secret to perfect biryani is having all of the right spices in your recipe. We have a great spice blend that was handed down in my family through generation of chefs. Here is what you will need:
1/2 tsp Turmeric
2 Tbsp salt
1 tsp Garam Masala
1/4 tsp Black pepper
5 cloves Garlic finely chopped
3 tsp Ginger finely chopped or grated
½ cup plain yogurt (I use whole milk)

By far the most popular dish in India is Biryani. It is a rice dish which is prepared by cooking aromatic Indian-style Basmati rice with meat and vegetables, and flavored with exotic spices. The meat could be chicken, goat, beef, shrimp or fish.
There are many ways to make Biryani. We will show you one of the more popular methods, namely Hyderabadi Biryani. This is a recipe passed on from generation to generation in my family.
Biryani is a mixed rice dish with its origins among the Muslims of the Indian subcontinent. It can be compared to mixing a curry, later combining it with semi-cooked rice separately. This dish is especially popular throughout the Indian subcontinent, as well as among the diaspora from the region. It is made with Indian spices, rice, and meat (chicken, beef, goat, pork, lamb, prawn, or fish), vegetables or eggs.

Shrimp biryani is a famous Indian dish, which is like a spicy rice casserole. It can be made with vegetables and seafood, but the most popular version uses shrimps.
There are many variants of this dish and it is made in many ways all over India. Some people cook it in a pressure cooker and some cook it covered on the stove top. Most people use basmati rice for this dish to get that special aroma and flavor.
When I make shrimp biryani, I like to add plenty of tomatoes and onions to the dish as these add more flavor to the dish and also give a great color to the finished dish. Also, unlike some other biryani recipes, I don’t add any yogurt or cream to my shrimp biryani recipe.
In this post, I am going to show you how to make shrimp biryani in an instant pot electric pressure cooker. I usually make this biryani in a pan or in an earthen pot (as shown below) but recently I made this in my instant pot as well because it is very convenient to make it that way.
