How to use Mixed Spice:

Mixed Spice will keep for years in an airtight glass container. Use as you would any ground spice. Mixed Spice has a more intense flavour than commercial mixed spice so use sparingly.*

Mixed spice is a wonderfully aromatic blend of many different spices and herbs. Mixed spice can be used in meat pies, and most other dishes that benefit from a little added spice. Mixed spice gives your meal that added edge that it has been missing.

It can be bought ready made but it is far cheaper to make your own and it is easy enough to do. This is where the wonderful thing about mixed spice comes in to play. How to make mixed spice:

Mix all the ingredients together in a screw top jar, shake until well combined. You may want to add more of one ingredient or another until you achieve the exact flavor you want for your family’s taste buds.

For convenience sake I would recommend purchasing a jar with a built-in shaker lid from any supermarket or from Amazon online shopping website as these are also cheap to buy as well as being very convenient. If

Ingredients: Cinnamon sticks 3 Nutmegs 2 Cloves 12 Allspice berries 6

Method: Put all the ingredients into a jar and shake well until combined. Store in an airtight container. Sprinkle on cakes, breads or add to hot drinks. If you would like to make a large batch of mixed spice to give as gifts, multiply the recipe above by 5.
