I am writing this post to share my experience with seasonings and why I use them. I’ll start with the test and then go into some details about the different ways you can use seasonings.

The Test

I have a friend who does not cook often. He is a very good cook, but he just doesn’t do it that often. One time he came over to my house and we decided to have a burger together. He brought his own burger seasoning (he uses black pepper, salt, cumin, etc.) and I brought mine (just black pepper). We put our burgers on the grill and waited for them to come off. When they did, we started eating them right away, without putting any sauce or condiments on them. What we found was that his burger tasted like my burger – not like his! Why? Because he had seasoned his meat and I hadn’t! In fact, when we cut open the burgers we could see that he had put salt, pepper and cumin all over it while I had only put black pepper on it. If you are looking to make your burger better, start with some really good quality beef. The best way to do this is to buy it directly from the butcher or farmer. In our restaurant we use different types of beef from different places in the United States, as well as from other countries.

Seasoning is also an important part of making a great burger. Many restaurants use just salt and pepper on their burgers. Some people even just use salt! This is ok but you can make your burger better by adding another flavor to it.

We test out a couple of different seasonings in our restaurant. One is called “Umami Burger” which has parmesan cheese and soy sauce in it. The other one is called “Burger in a Bottle” which has mustard and ketchup on top of the burger (just like you would have on your hot dog).

I wanted to find out whether it was worth using seasonings on your burger patties. I decided to do a blind taste test with a few friends – I asked them all to try my burgers without any seasonings and then with some of the seasonings that I use below:

Well, here are two simple tests that you can do at home to see how much of an effect seasoning really has on the flavor of your burgers.

The first test is very simple. Take one pound of ground beef and place it into a large bowl. Now add one teaspoon of salt and three tablespoons of butter. Mix this mixture until it becomes smooth and creamy. Now take one tablespoon of this mixture and rub it onto your hamburger bun. If you have ever eaten a burger that was made with just cream cheese or mayonnaise, then you will notice that it tastes good without any seasoning at all! I’ve seen a lot of recipes for burgers recently that call for some sort of seasoning. You know, salt and pepper, or just black pepper, or maybe even Montreal Steak Seasoning. I’ve never really used anything like this to season my burger patties before, so before I start using them I want to see if they make any difference at all.

I wanted to keep this as simple as possible, so I decided to use two pounds of ground beef, which I divided into two equal portions. One portion I seasoned with salt and pepper and the other with a commercial steak seasoning (Montreal). In addition to comparing the two different types of seasonings, I also wanted to see if seasoning the meat before forming the patties makes a difference (seasoning will change the structure of the meat slightly), so after dividing the meat in half, I took one half and seasoned it before forming it into patties.

To make sure that any differences were not due to differences in cooking temperature or timing between the burgers, I cooked them all on my gas grill at about 450 degrees F for about three minutes per side. These are all ingredients that are very flavorful in their own right and will add a great deal of flavor to any burger you eat. They also compliment each other well because they all have different flavors that compliment each other
